Mom! Phil tagged me!

Phil tagged me. I will preface this all by saying I used to be a voracious reader when I was younger, but higher education sucked the reading life out of me. Lately I have tried and failed to read deep, meaningful things, but I've always been more into fiction and I think I have to ease my brain back into deep thought. So my answers here will probably not be all that serious or rock-your-worldish. (Also, I have made the personal rule that "the Bible" is out. Although I would take it on the desert island.)

1. One book that changed your life:
The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis

2. One book that you've read more than once:
Any that I like. Some include To Kill a Mockingbird, the Little House series, the Harry Potters, most Jane Austens.

3. One book you'd want on a desert island:
Probably Pride & Prejudice. It has it all.

4. One book that made you laugh:
Can you say broken record? Seriously, Jane Austen is my favorite. She's sarcastic and subtle and just writes her characters so well. Mr. Collins gets me every time. So we'll say Pride & Prejudice.

5. One book that made you cry:
Memoirs of a Geisha made me very sad. I'm not much of a crier, but I probably got closest with that one.

6. One book you wish had been written:
"Cheap Healthy Recipes for Single Picky Eaters"

7. One book you wish had never been written:
Heart of Darkness. True confessions: This book and The Scarlet Letter were the only two in high school I only read the CliffNotes for.

8. One book you're currently reading:
Currently halfway through Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie (thanks to the Fabric Snob). Next on the list: starting Girl Meets God by Lauren Winner. Just got it in last week.

9. One book you've been meaning to read:
A New Kind of Christian by Brian MacLaren

10. Tag others:
The Fabric Snob, Tiff, Michelle, LB, and James A. Wiser (just to see if he will)

Jennifer,

I've bought three copies so far of A New Kind of Christian. Each time I've read it and then given it away. It has been a big help to me and has helped me negotiate or come to terms with my science side and my religious side.

FINALLY!! A reason to update my blog! Now I just have to find the time to do it. If I weren't so busy watching "High School Musical" and going to trivia and such....
